Kristina needs a tech makeover because…

I don’t need a tech makeover, specifically. But my 31 students do! My classroom is woefully lacking technology, mostly due to yearly budget cuts and painfully old equipment from the 90’s that still dares to start up every time I hit the on button. As long as the computers still run, we make due.

But I’d love to not have to compromise my students’ technology lessons due to the lack of new supplies and computer equipment. That would be grand. Five grand, to be exact. And appreciated beyond words, and more important than you will ever know.

The kids in my 5th grade class are mostly from lower income families, all of whom struggle to get Internet access and even email addresses in their homes. School is sometimes the only connection they have to computers and the Internet. Knowing they will need this type of experience in the reality of life in the here and now, it is essential they have access to it on a daily basis.

More than anything, I want these public school students to have the same opportunities that a wealthy private school child would have. They work so hard, and they deserve the best we can offer them. I am relentless about searching out free resources for this very reason, and I am well known for my shameless begging on the web for stuff.

Please consider our class worthy of new computer equipment that doesn’t freeze and crash every time they try to write their reports! Thank you!

A classroom full of computers, like a single machine, is no more than a tool, its effectiveness will depend entirely on who controls it. Kristina is creative, dedicated and focused. I can guarantee she will wring every ounce of value out of the machines and the kids she helps in the process will find their lives changed forever.

    UGH. I misspelled MAKE DO.

    (swatting hand) BAD teacher, BAD.

Its so sad that we are in a time when stuff like computers, books and band equipment to enrich their creativity and intelligence are usurped for bullshit like new football uniforms and sports equipment.

I come from a high school where these kinds of things happen everyday, and it sucks.

I applaud you and your efforts, and you know from past history, ill help you and your kids any way i can.

Kristina is a dedicated and wonderful teacher. I have the great pleasure of knowing her. She is always looking for ways to help her students achieve the best often resorting to begging and searching for bargains. Please help Kristina’s class get new computers.

I hope this entry wins the Tech Make Over! Our public schools are desperately underfunded. I applaud the educators who persist in the face of adversity. Help these kids!

    Cheers!

After seeing the huge jump in scores since you took this class, I can’t wait to see what kinds of presentations your students will produce to teach one another. They’re lucky to have such a dedicated teacher as you!

Who in their right mind doesn’t want to help the youth of today!? WHO?! Not me, or you, or Kristina. Not to sound like a Will Smith (but the kids do love Will Smith, don’t they?) but it’s the right thing to do. Okay, maybe that’s more Harrison Ford, but still a cool guy! Where am I going with this? Kristina is solid and committed and devoted! That should count for something!

    Good Luck!

Kristina, you are one of the most dedicated teachers that I know! The fact that you are out there fighting for your kids to have the same equipment that other schools don’t have to think twice about is wonderful. Your perserverance paid of last year with the excellent testing scores - I can’t wait to see what you do with this year’s class!

I hope you (the kids) win!

No one deserves this Tech makeover better than Kristina and her classroom. She is an excellent teacher, dedicated to providing quality education to her young students. You can see the result of her hard work and dedication in the test scores of her students.

So, please, make the right decision. By awarding Kristina and her students the computers they need, you will be instrumental in preparing her students to be equipped in becoming the future leaders and thinkers this country sorely needs.

I am continually impressed by Kristina’s dedication to doing right by her students. Too often, however, this means spending from her own modest teacher’s salary to supplement her classroom.

Kristina is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of public educator excellence. She’d truly put this Tech Makeover to the best use possible: educating our future leaders.

I wish every classroom had computers for all its students. Access to cutting edge technology should be a right not a privilege. Let’s start with Kristina’s classroom!

Wishing you great luck Kristina - it’s such a tragedy that our teachers should need to win a contest to provide students with equipment they should be entitled to to begin with.

You sound wonderful and I hope you know your kids are lucky to have you.

As many others above have stated, I think it’s a shame that students today aren’t provided with the tools they need to get a quality education.

Kristina, I hope you get this tech makeover for your class, and I totally agree that your kids are very lucky to have you striving to provide them with the best education possible.
